Best Decision 2 Year Journey

My Experience with Scalp Micropigmentation.
Hair loss is a challenging experience that many of us face. For me, the journey of coping with losing my hair lasted several years before I finally made the decision to undergo Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). This decision was not made lightly, but now, looking back, I just wish I had done it sooner as I’m so pleased with the results. SMP has given me all the renewed sense of self-confidence that I had hoped it would and the best part is that nobody has ever noticed! In my mid-twenties I began to be aware that my hair was thinning and my hairline was receding. It was a difficult phase, as I felt self-conscious about my appearance and it didn’t help that my “mates” liked to keep reminding me about it. I was finding that I was reluctant to go to events where I would meet new people. I spent countless hours researching various hair loss solutions, from topical treatments to hair transplants and a brief look at hair systems. Each to their own, but none seemed to be right for me. That’s when I stumbled upon SMP during one of my laptop “hair repair quests”.

Discovering Scalp Micropigmentation
Scalp Micropigmentation, or SMP, is a procedure that involves tattooing tiny dots of pigment into the scalp to replicate the appearance of hair follicles. I was so intrigued and fascinated by the notion I took a deep dive into my research, reading reviews, watching before-and-after videos and having several consultations with SMP practitioners. I was impressed by the overwhelmingly positive feedback and the incredible transformations I kept seeing online.

The Decision to Undergo SMP
After about two years of contemplation, I finally decided to take the plunge and book my SMP. The decision was not easy and on the day of my first appointment I was filled with nerves. I almost didn’t go but I knew I’d regret it if I chickened out. I had done my research, but still you never imagine you are going to get your head tattooed and it’s a scary thought. One of the factors that sealed the deal for me was the natural-looking results that SMP promised. Unlike some hair loss solutions that can look obvious or unnatural and I didn’t want to swap being self-conscious about my hair loss for being self-conscious about my choice of solution.
SMP is designed to replicate the appearance of a closely shave head, making it virtually undetectable to the naked eye. Providing you are happy to go with that look, which I am, it’s a perfect solution to the problem of male pattern baldness for me.

The SMP Experience
The actual SMP procedure was relatively quick and only mildly painful, I’d rate it 3 on a scale of 1-10. Uncomfortable but not painful is probably the best way to describe it without frightening anyone.

The Freedom of Self-Confidence
One of the most remarkable aspects of my SMP experience is that nobody has ever noticed. Friends, family and colleagues have commented that I look good, but nobody knows that I have had anything done. Most people say “your hair looks much better now you are wearing it shorter”. This natural look is precisely what I had hoped to achieve and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
